This page explains what personal data we collect through runtheridge.ie and our races, why we collect it, and what you can do about it.

Who we are

Run the Ridge is a mountain and trail running event in Laragh, Co. Wicklow. It is organised by Glendalough AC with Laragh GFC as a fundraiser for both clubs. If you have any question about your data, email us at info@glendaloughac.org.

Race entries and payments

Entries and payments are handled by Race Space, not by this website. When you enter, Race Space collects your details and your payment, under its own privacy policy. We receive only the entry details we need to run the race safely, such as start lists and emergency contacts. We never see your card details.

Results

Race timing and results are run by MyRunResults. Results are published on their website and may be linked or shared from ours. They show your name, club, category and finish time. Publishing results is a normal part of competitive running. If you have a particular reason for not wanting your name shown, contact us before the race and we’ll do what we can.

Race photos

Photographers, including volunteers and club members, may take photos and video on race day. These may be published on this website, our Facebook page and photo sites such as Flickr. If you’d like a photo of you taken down, email us with a link to the photo and we’ll remove it from our own channels and ask the photographer to remove it from theirs.

This website

The site is hosted on WordPress.com, which is run by Automattic. Like most websites, it uses cookies:

  • Essential cookies keep the site working and secure, for example remembering whether you’re logged in or have accepted the cookie notice.
  • Analytics cookies. We use Jetpack Stats to see how many people visit and which pages they read. Jetpack Likes and similar features may set cookies. We use this information only in aggregate.

Automattic processes this data under its own privacy policy and cookie policy. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings.

Embedded and social content

Some pages have Facebook links and share buttons, and links to photos on Flickr. When you click these, or when a page shows embedded content, those services may set their own cookies and collect data under their own privacy policies. We don’t control this.

Comments

If you leave a comment, we store your name, email address, IP address and the comment itself. Your email address is never published.

How long we keep data

  • Entry details from Race Space: kept for as long as we need them to run that year’s race and deal with any queries afterwards, then deleted.
  • Results: published results are kept as a permanent record of the race.
  • Photos: kept in our galleries unless you ask us to remove one.
  • Comments: kept until you or we delete them.
  • Website statistics: kept by WordPress.com/Jetpack in line with their own policies.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

  • see the personal data we hold about you;
  • have it corrected if it’s wrong;
  • have it deleted;
  • object to how we use it.

To use any of these rights, email info@glendaloughac.org. We’ll reply within one month. If you’re not happy with how we’ve handled your data, you can complain to the Irish Data Protection Commission at www.dataprotection.ie.
